Sports & Slimness

It is generally believed that exercise is a key component of weight loss, but how it actually affects weight loss is often misunderstood.

Exercise can influence weight loss by affecting energy expenditure, appetite, and mental health; however, these effects vary depending on the type, volume, and frequency of the exercise. Therefore, it is important to understand how these factors contribute to weight loss and maintenance.

Although physical activity does not typically contribute the largest portion of total daily energy expenditure, it is the most variable component among individuals. In a sedentary person, physical activity may account for 15% to 20% of total daily energy expenditure. In a physically active person, it may account for 30% to 50% or more, depending on the volume and intensity of daily activity, and physical activity may also vary over time for the same individual.
